Dear Music Lovers,

xr disc copy

Xombiewoof Magazine has started something that will benefit the world, as well as raise much needed funds for many community and social supportive projects.

We have started Xombiewoof Records which will be a record label that produces albums by local and national artists.

After album sales and the artists are paid what they deserve, much of our proceeds will go to charities for Children, Music Education and Community Programs, such as The Food Bank and others.

I am writing to ask if you could help us achieve our dream of doing something good for the people of our world, if you could share our fundraising link, links to the magazine and record label and possibly sponsor us or share our information with individuals that would pledge funds. In return for the investment, sponsors do get premiums that include collectable recordings from artists that are working with us on this fundraiser.

Most projects like this are done by large nonprofits or big companies, and the money raised gets so watered down or never gets to the people that need it, most of all I want to help Kids get music into their lives and create a positive atmosphere for a musical life.

Please visit the links are below and I would like to thank you for taking the time to help.

KIX TO RECORD NEW ALBUM–BREAKING NEWS

KIX SIGNS WITH LOUD & PROUD RECORDS; FIRST NEW ALBUM IN 19 YEARS, CURRENTLY IN THE WORKS AND SET FOR JULY 22 RELEASE

The Wait is OVER!

Look for KIX-- Steve Whiteman (lead vocals), Jimmy Chalfant (drums, vocals), Ronnie Younkins (guitars), Brian Forsythe (guitars) and Mark Schenker (bass)—to release their first new album in almost two decades on July 22, thanks to their new partnership with Loud & Proud Records.  What makes the project even more exciting and anticipated is that the album features the band’s original line-up, with the exception of Schenker on bass.

“The boys and I are so happy that our old friend, Tom Lipsky, has invited us to join the Loud & Proud family,” exclaims Whiteman.  “We worked with Tom and Madelyn Scarpulla on our last studio album, SHOW BUSINESS, and we’re looking forward to working with them again with the release of the first new KIX album in almost 19 years!  We'll still be coming to a dump near you very soon!”

Loud & Proud Owner & President Tom Lipsky adds, “What I have always loved about KIX is they make rock ‘n roll fun.  What I love about their new music is that it’s pure, genuine KIX music, straight up guitar rock with no compromise.  They’re not chasing trends or trying to re-invent themselves.  They’re simply doing what they do best...and now they can do it Loud and Proud!”

Marking the re-emergence of KIX in early-2000’s, the band had teamed up a few times a year to test the waters with reunion shows in the Maryland/Pennsylvania, which were very well received.  Then in the summer of 2008, KIX performed outside the mid-Atlantic for the first time in 13 years at two of the biggest rock festivals in the U.S.  Rocklahoma in Pryor, OK and Rock the Bayou in Houston, TX.  The band was hailed by many music websites and attendees as Best Performance at both festivals, where they played alongside Sammy Hagar, Alice Cooper, Tesla, Queesryche, Ratt, and more.

As the demand for new music has never subsided and in fact has only increased over the last few years, the band decided that they can no longer ignore the overtures from their fans and are currently recording new KIX songs.  The new album, due out summer 2014, is produced by Taylor Rhodes, who last worked with KIX on 1991’s HOT WIRE album.  Rhodes has also written hit songs for Aerosmith, Ozzy Osbourne and Journey.

Stay tuned for new album news, which will be announced in the coming weeks, and check out KIX on tour at any of the following stops (with more to be announced soon):

RYAN RUSSELL RELEASES “CONTINENTAL OBSCURA”

RYAN RUSSELL RELEASES “CONTINENTAL OBSCURA” PHOTOGRAPHY BOOK/SPLIT 7” RECORD

Known best for his iconic photography of some of rock’s biggest acts, Ryan Russell has released a new travel photography book titled “Continental Obscura: From Birmingham to Bellingham” today via No Sleep Records. The limited edition book will also feature an exclusive 7” split record with unreleased and rare music from Manchester Orchestra and Minus The Bear.  The book is available for purchase now from No Sleep Records and Amazon.com.

Russell recently partnered with Fuse.tv to stream Manchester Orchestra’s unreleased track “Sure Shot” and Minus The Bear’s rare B-side “Surf-n-Turf” from the exclusive 7” record. Listen now at http://on.fuse.tv/OubAkQ. Additionally, a selection of photos from the new book can be seen at ImposeMagazine.com.

For the last decade Russell has captured memorable shots of famous rock bands like Paramore, Death Cab For Cutie and Blink-182 and had photos featured in publications like Rolling Stone, Esquire and New York Times all while amassing an impressive cult following of his work.  For his latest project “Continental Obscura: From Birmingham to Bellingham” Russell turned his lens onto a different subject entirely. In the summer of 2013 he embarked on a life-changing, cross-country journey, moving from his native city of Birmingham, AL to the Pacific Northwest town of Bellingham, WA.  Russell documented his trip, capturing the back roads, ghost towns, national parks and historical sites of America with stunning photos of everything he saw.  Check out a recent profile on Russell at RoadTrippers.com.

Follow Russell at http://instagram.com/ryanrussell and continentalobscura.com for more information regarding the release of “Continental Obscura: From Birmingham to Bellingham.”

About Ryan Russell:

Russell was born and raised in the Deep South town of Birmingham, where he found an eye for photography at a young age.  His style embraces predecessors of southern culture like William Eggleston and Ernest Withers as well as personal influences like Glen E. Friedman and Charles Peterson to create a bold new take on classic southern gothic photography.  Russell captures the grit and energy of today’s American music scene much like Lee Friedlander’s work for Atlantic Records in the 50’s and 60’s or Anton Corbijn’s work with U2 and Joy Division in the 80’s.  Today, Russell is a well sought after photographer who has worked with bands like Death Cab for Cutie, Paramore, Patton Oswalt, My Chemical Romance, Green Day and Blink-182 and his photographs have appeared in such periodicals as Rolling Stone, Spin, Esquire, Playboy and New York Times.

7”  Track List:

1. Manchester Orchestra

Sure Shot (unreleased 2009 track)

2. Minus the Bear

Surf-n-Turf (rare b-side)

THE THE announce release Soul Mining 30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition Boxset

THE THE announce details of the release Soul Mining 30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition Boxset

THE THE announce details of the release of a re-mastered, re-packed and expanded version of their major label debut album, Soul Mining, on July 1st through Sony Music.

thetheRe-mastered at Abbey Road Studios by THE THE’s Matt Johnson and packaged in a lavish 12” box, this vinyl only release includes an authentic reproduction of the 1983 release on 180g vinyl, plus an extra 12” gatefold vinyl of alternative versions and remixes.

The re-mastered audio has also been dubbed from original vinyl pressings recorded from Matt Johnson’s original 1982 Thorens TD-147 gramophone player using patent ‘Dubbed-From-Disc’ technology, obtainable via a download code contained within the boxset.

The box set also includes a unique ‘news-poster’ containing extensive notes written by Johnson that detail the making of the album.

Originally released on 21st October 1983, the recording of Soul Mining began in the spring of 1982, when the then 20-year old Matt Johnson, financed at this point by London Records, de-camped to New York to record ‘Uncertain Smile’ with producer Mike Thorne.

A subsequent session, again in New York with Thorne, and featuring David Johansen of the New York Dolls, resulted in ‘Perfect’, yet both sessions, and the deal with London Records, were subsequently scrapped as THE THE switched to CBS Records and decided to start the album afresh.

Work on the album was reconvened at John Foxx’s Garden Studios in the then pre-gentrified Shoreditch area of London with Matt co-producing with Paul Hardiman - the album was subsequently mixed at Martin Rushent’s Genetic Sound studio.

Featuring a host of talented musicians, including JG Thirwell (aka Foetus, Manorexia and Steroid Maximus), Zeke Manyika (Orange Juice), electronic DIY pioneer Thomas Leer and Jools Holland, Johnson set out with a clear vision in mind – to produce an album that felt cinematic; a record of width, depth and texture and one which avoided the mundane line-up of two guitars, bass and drums.

The aesthetic of THE THE was also something Johnson was very conscious of, assembling a supportive and talented team of creative individuals to help him refine his vision – his then girlfriend Fiona Skinner designed the type-face of the unique and enduring logo and his brother Andrew, working under the moniker Andy Dog, created the album artwork, a painting of one of Fela Kuti’s wives.

The 30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition of Soul Mining is loyal to Johnson’s original track listing with ‘Perfect’ absent from the main album – Johnson always had it in mind for the album to finish with ‘Giant’, but ‘Perfect’ was added by the US label without Johnson’s consent. Also, tracks from the original cassette version are excluded – these were attempts at re-recording an aborted independent album, Pornorgaphy Of Despair, and were therefore felt not to belong to Soul Mining.

Soul Mining [30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition] is available to pre-order now: http://smarturl.it/SoulMiningVinyl

The track listings of the albums are as follows:

"This is what hardcore was, what hardcore is and what hardcore can be." - Punknews.org

Listen to the new Dead Ending Track, "Rewire", here. This track appears on the band's DE III EP, which will be available next Tuesday, April 15th from Bridge Nine Records.  DE III features five new tracks that pack a punch like never before, as well as guest appearances from punk legends Jake Burns (Stiff Little Fingers) and Jeff Pezzati (Naked Raygun, The Bomb).

Chicago's Dead Ending can be described as an 80's influenced hardcore/punk band and includes members of Rise Against, Alkaline Trio, Articles Of Faith and All Eyes West.  The band boasts two releases already under their collective belt - 2012's S/T EP and DE II the following year, both released on Alternative Tentacles.  Dead Ending formed in 2011 when guitarist Jeff Dean met and befriended Vic Bondi, the frontman of legendary Chicago punk band Articles Of Faith, while on tour. The two bonded together over hyper-aggressive 80's bands and discussed the possibility of starting their own. Dean began writing songs and recruited longtime friend and Alkaline Trio drummer Derek Grant to help him lay the tracks down in Million Yen Studios, where Jeff works as an engineer. Vic liked the songs and signed on. Joe Principe of Rise Against then came on board as bassist and Dead Ending was officially born.

Pre-order Dead Ending's DE III EP now from the B9Store.
